GM and Honda begin mass hydrogen fuel cell production

General Motors (GM) and Honda have started the production of hydrogen fuel cells at their 50-50 joint venture (JV) facility in the US.

The facility, FCSM, in Brownstown, Michigan, was established in January 2017 following a joint investment of $86m. The 70,000sq. ft. facility is now producing hydrogen power solutions that will be used by both companies in various applications.

The new fuel cell systems are anticipated to be one-third less expensive to make through the collaboration, when compared to the cost of the fuel cell system in the 2019 Honda Clarity fuel cell.
